Has Charlamagne The God gone too far, or is he just doing radio?

cthagod the self-proclaimed “Prince of Pissing People Off,” continues to live up to his name. Charlamagne, who’s real name is Lenard McKelvey has become notorious for his trolling antics, unfiltered candor, and pot-stirring ways. Often criticized for his disrespectful demeanor and remarks, listeners and guest alike say “he’s gone too far, and someone’s going to knock him out!”

As one of the original members of the Breakfast Club, along with Djenvy and Angela Yee. Charlamagne has helped it become one of the largest and most popular radio programs in the country.  Promoted as, “The World’s Most Dangerous Morning Show,” The Breakfast Club is known for its edgy, problematic, and TOXIC environment, thanks to Chalamagne.

“Allegedly,” Their interviews are mostly controversial and confrontational to say the least. One such interview was with Birdman, the Cash Money Records CEO, where Birdman came to the radio station demanding they “Put some RESPECT, on his name!” A beef that stemmed from Chalamagne questioning why anyone would sign to Birdman or Cash Money Records, insinuating ARTIST are being contractually robbed there.

Another instance, and there are many, where Chalamagne is confronted by Fredro Starr of the legendary rap group Onyx about him spreading the rumor that Fredo Starr lied about beating up 50 Cent and @gunitbrands. The interview got so heated, you thought blows were going to be thrown. He got into a verbal confrontation with @therealmoworld for giving her “Donkey of The Day.” M’Nique felt he incorrectly gave her his “A** of the Day” award because she refused to accept a measly $500,000 @netflix payout, and her desire to fight against racial and gender and color inequality in the industry. She eloquently called him a Koon and said he “doesn’t have a value on Black women and woman’s of color.”.

On a @vladTV interview he says  “I never worry, NEVER! I’m not no Gangsta, I’m not here to lay people down, or whatever the F**k it is, I’m just...I’m cool...I’m all about Self defense.” This BIG voice only Stands 5’6” tall, weighing in at only 159lbs calling himself the “ruler of rubbing you the wrong way,” and the “Architect of Aggravation.”  Instead of using his powerful platform to he propel his guess to the highest plains of progression, he provokes people to the highest level of “Provocation!” Giving people his  “Donkey of the Day” award, where he claims they are deserving of his prestigious award of stupidity, is a means of him injecting poison into the culture, as M’Nique once stated.

Since the beginning of The Breakfastclub in 2010, Charlamagne’s voice has become louder and louder, not because of excellent journalism, but because of his ridiculous and unchallenged rhetoric. It’s evident that charlamagne hasn’t himself learned a lesson after getting commandeered outside the Breakfastclub radio station some years ago. We do hope he realizes how damaging his disrespect has become to the culture before it’s too late. Question, should he give himself “Donkey of The Day?” Or should we?
