Jennifer Kate Hudson, has been selected to play Aretha Franklin in the official BioPic of the legendary songstress. Hudson, the 2004 American Idol finalist, and Dreamgirls Star, was personally chosen by Aretha Franklin @arethasings to play the role of herself, almost 15yrs ago. Few are more deserving to play such a role except for the young Grammy and Oscar winner from Chicago, Illinois. Hudson, unequivocally embodies the legendary singer like no other, her voice, her mannerism, and even her striking resemblance of the late Aretha Franklin is breath taking. Hudson is a natural choice to star as the iconic vocalist, her acting is remarkable, and her vocal pipes are soul shaking.

The BioPic will follow Franklin’s rise to fame, from her humble beginnings in her father’s choir, to her ascent as the Queen of Soul.  The recently released teaser is a 40 second clip that showcases Hudson’s chops as she performs an Acapella version of franklin’s 1967 hit song “Respect,” which the title of the film is derived from. The movie is expected to include an amazing cast, including the likes of Forest Whitaker, Mary J. Blige, Marlon Wayans, Marc Maron, Audra McDonald, Tate Donovan, Tituss Burgess, and newcomer Skye Dakota Turner. Catch the premiere of Aretha’s official Bio on October 9, 2020 and R.E.S.P.E.C.T. the Queen.
